200g Evergreen’s Hard Tofu sliced into 1/2-inch-thick pieces
3 tablespoons vegetable oil divided
½ onion sliced into thin rings & ⅕ onion chopped into small pieces
3 cloves Garlic sliced thinly
2 tbsp Soy Sauce
½ bowl of cornstarch
½ bowl of water
2 tbsp lemon Juice
1 tbsp sugar
½ tbsp vegetable stock cube
Spring onions to taste
THE SAUCE FOR MARINATING THE TOFU
1 tbsp lime juice
3 tbsp soy sauce
¼ tbsp black pepper
¼ tbsp garlic powder
Step 1
Slice the tofu into 1-2 cm pieces.
In a large container, mix together the soy sauce, lime juice, garlic, and pepper. Add the tofu in and coat into the marinade. Leave to marinate for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Place the cornstarch on a plate. Coat each piece of tofu into the cornstarch mix.
Step 3
Heat some oil in the pan. Once hot, add the tofu. Cool the tofu till it’s lightly golden and crispy. Then remove the tofu from the pan and place on a plate. At the same time, mix together the 1 tbsp cornstarch and water until the starch is dissolved. Set aside.
Step 4
Lessen the oil from your pan/wok. Stir-fry the white onion & garlic pieces until tender. Add in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, lime juice, and vegetable soup stock. Leave to simmer until it comes to a boil, then add the cornstarch mixture.
Step 5
Place the fried tofu on a plate. Pour the hot sauce over the tofu, and then garnish with spring onions and onion rings. Enjoy!
