160g Evergreen Foods Hard Tofu, cut into cubes
Corn flour and Korean chilli powder for coating
Oil for frying
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp minced ginger
2 tbsp gochujang
1 tbsp honey
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp ketchup
Step 1: Prep the Tofu
Cut 160g of Evergreen's hard tofu into cubes and toss them in a mixture of corn flour and Korean chilli powder to coat evenly.
Step 2: Fry the Tofu
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, carefully add the tofu cubes. Fry them until all sides are golden and crispy. Remove the tofu from the oil and drain on paper towels.
Step 3: Make the Sauce
In a separate pan, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and sauté until they are fragrant but not browned.
Stir in the gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and ketchup. Mix well and simmer the sauce for about 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
Step 4: Combine Tofu and Sauce
Add the fried tofu cubes to the sauce. Toss gently to coat all the pieces evenly with the sauce. Cook together for another minute to allow the tofu to absorb the flavors.
Step 5: Serve
Serve the gochujang tofu hot, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired. This dish goes well with steamed rice or noodles.
